Eligible projects must involve properties that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places or designated as National Historic Landmarks, either individually or as contributing elements to a historic district. The program aims to support the long-term preservation of HBCU heritage, address urgent threats to historic resources, and promote the recognition of the historical and cultural significance of HBCUs.
