    Description

This grant opportunity, administered by the National Park Service (NPS) through the Historic Preservation Fund, supports the physical preservation of significant cultural resources associated with the founding of the United States, in honor of the country’s semiquincentennial (250th anniversary). Eligible projects include preservation and pre-preservation (planning) activities for buildings, sites, structures, objects, or historic districts listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) or designated as National Historic Landmarks (NHLs). The program aims to ensure that important places telling the story of the nation’s origins—up to the year 1815—are preserved for future generations.

Projects must comply with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Archeology and Historic Preservation. Grants are awarded competitively, and there is no requirement for non-federal matching funds, though voluntary match may strengthen an application.
