This program funds projects that deepen the appreciation and understanding of European art and architecture from antiquity through the early 19th century. Supported activities include the creation and dissemination of specialized knowledge (e.g., archival projects, scholarly databases, documentation, exhibitions, publications, photographic campaigns, technical and scientific studies), as well as professional exchanges, conferences, symposia, and mentored development opportunities in art museums. As of August 2025, digital art history and interpretive museum fellowship initiatives are included in this grant stream.
