Description
The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ Office of Homelessness Prevention runs HPRP2 to address two housing crises. Homelessness prevention helps households at imminent risk of homelessness; rapid re-housing helps individuals and families living on the streets or in emergency shelters obtain permanent housing. Both components pair financial assistance with services intended to stabilize housing.
Supported activities include temporary rental assistance, rental arrears, utilities, security deposits, moving costs, housing search and placement, case management, and help with credit repair and money management. The program emphasizes Housing First, low-barrier services, coordination with community partners, and feedback from people with lived experience of homelessness or housing instability.
