Description
This Horizon Europe Cluster 5 call funds research and innovation actions (RIA) aimed at developing advanced solutions that enhance the energy security of European energy networks and storage technologies. The focus is on ensuring uninterrupted, affordable, and sustainable energy access by addressing critical value chain challenges. Projects should contribute to strengthening the European technological knowledge base, improve the sustainability and resilience of grids and storage, and foster EU technological leadership in energy security.
Applicants must target one of three specific areas:
- Advanced tools to address cybersecurity risks for energy transmission/distribution and the interface between renewables, storage, and networks.
- Circular economy processes: improving recycling, reuse, or substitution of critical materials/electronics for energy networks and storage.
- Sustainability and public perception: overcoming barriers to capacity build-up and performance of energy networks and storage (including hydropower, CAES storage, etc.).
All proposals must also address decent working conditions, essential skills, and efficient skills management as transversal value chain components.
