Summary: Supports the development of practical, scalable technologies and prototypes to improve the welfare of fish during slaughter in aquaculture and fisheries.
Key Information: Open to individuals, institutions, and companies globally; interdisciplinary teams encouraged.
Coefficient Giving is seeking proposals for innovative research and technological prototypes that can materially improve the welfare of fish during capture and slaughter. The focus is on scalable solutions that render fish insensible before death, addressing both farmed and wild-caught fish. The initiative aims to accelerate progress in humane slaughter technologies, especially those feasible for use on fishing vessels with limited resources or as alternatives to current stunning methods. Projects may range from early-stage research to advanced prototype development (up to TRL 7–8). The program welcomes interdisciplinary teams and applicants from across academia, industry, and the public sector.
