    Description

The HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) Scientific Leadership Development Award prepares emerging scientists to chair or co-chair HVTN protocols. Anticipating an increase in HIV vaccine trials, HVTN supports early career scientists with strong research interests, a reputation for excellence at their clinical sites, and a career trajectory toward trial leadership. Developing first-author capacity is a central priority.

Participants create an individual professional development plan, complete a scientific manuscript using HVTN data, and receive coaching and sponsorship. Mentoring can address first authorship, protocol development and implementation, translational research and immunology, and statistical analysis. The program supports scientists through their affiliated sites and aims to build their readiness to lead HIV vaccine clinical trials.
