    Description

The Hyland R. Johns Grant Program is designed to fund longer-term research and technology transfer projects that have the potential to benefit the daily work of arborists and the broader arboriculture community. The program prioritizes applied research in urban forest management, ecosystem services, tree health, and decay, with an emphasis on practical outcomes such as improved inventory techniques, pruning, management of biotic interactions, the impact of chemicals, and identification or mitigation of decay organisms. Projects are expected to be completed within three to five years, and findings are to be disseminated freely and widely to maximize their impact.

Currently, the program is on hold as the fund is being fully endowed, but it is expected to resume grantmaking once endowment goals are met.
