This collaborative fellowship is designed for early- and mid-career scholars whose research explores cross-cultural contacts between Italy and the territories of the East Christian world during the late medieval and early modern Mediterranean. The fellowship is jointly offered by I Tatti (The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies) and Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection.
Fellows will spend approximately six months in residence at I Tatti in Florence (mid-July to mid-January, with a required presence September–January) and the spring term at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C. (January–May). The program supports research in disciplines such as art, architecture, archaeology, history, literature, material culture, music, philosophy, religion, or science, with preference for projects engaging both Italian and East Christian histories and cultures.
