The IASH-National Museums Scotland Fellowship offers postdoctoral scholars in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences the opportunity to undertake research based on the collections held at the National Museum of Scotland. The fellowship is designed to foster interdisciplinary research, scholarly collaboration, and public engagement, leveraging the extensive collections that span natural history, science and technology, Scottish history and archaeology, and global arts and cultures. Fellows benefit from access to the National Museums Collection Centre, curatorial and technical support, a vibrant scholarly community at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH), and resources at the University of Edinburgh.
Research areas of particular interest include the cultures of natural history (analyzing the historical, political, and cultural values of natural science specimens) and collecting video game heritage (exploring the social, cultural, and material implications of digital heritage). The fellowship encourages innovative and interdisciplinary approaches and aims to enhance both scholarly understanding and the museum’s collections.
