Funding for research on aircraft icing to enhance safety, certification, and innovation in sustainable aviation, addressing climate change impacts and advanced ice detection and protection technologies.

--- ## Description This Horizon Europe call supports research and innovation projects addressing aircraft icing in the context of sustainable aviation. The initiative responds to the increasing frequency and severity of icing-related weather hazards, the emergence of low-carbon aircraft configurations, and evolving safety and certification requirements. Projects are expected to generate expertise and knowledge for developing means of compliance for icing system certification and the creation of new prototypes for ice detection and protection. The scope includes: - Development and validation of numerical tools and testing capabilities for icing environments, including supercooled large drops, ice crystals, and snow. - Assessment of climate change impacts on icing environments relevant to aviation certification. - Advanced research on ice detection, protection technologies, and robust air data measurement systems, especially for new electric or hybrid aircraft.
