The Russell Sage Foundation/Carnegie Corporation Initiative on Immigration and Immigrant Integration funds social science research examining how race, citizenship, legal status, politics, political culture, and public policy affect outcomes for immigrants and native-born individuals of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds and generations in the United States. This initiative is part of RSF’s Race, Ethnicity, and Immigration Program and places a special emphasis on understanding the complex factors influencing immigrant integration and its broader social impacts.
Priority is given to projects that strengthen theory, methods, and empirical knowledge about the effects of these factors on immigrant outcomes. The program especially welcomes projects that creatively use administrative and other data sources to improve measurement of immigrant integration, as well as studies of historical events that shed light on contemporary issues.
