The program addresses gaps identified in the 2023 Joint External Evaluation of Uganda’s Global Health Security capacities. Priority areas include improving surveillance systems, laboratory capacity, rapid response mechanisms, and countermeasures for both human and zoonotic diseases. Additional objectives involve advancing multi-sectoral preparedness (including water and multi-hazard readiness), supporting national legislation for health emergencies, establishing a national border health program, and expanding the National Integrated Surveillance System (NISS) for integrated data tracking and response.
