This opportunity funds agencies to deliver short-term, fee-for-service in-home and community-based respite care for children and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) who are not enrolled in Home and Community Based Waiver services. The program is designed to help individuals with I/DD remain in their homes or family settings by providing planned or emergency respite, reducing caregiver stress, and avoiding unnecessary institutionalization. Services are delivered by staff from agencies contracted with the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and tailored to the needs of each individual and their families. The program emphasizes inclusivity, equity, and the reduction of systemic barriers.
