This program supports interdisciplinary research that incorporates social, behavioral, and economic processes into mathematical epidemiological models. The goal is to improve the utility and realism of models used to inform public health policy and interventions, especially in the context of pandemics and other public health crises. Projects must involve integrated participation from both the mathematical sciences and the social, behavioral, or economic sciences, and may also include biological sciences.

Proposals are encouraged to address significant research challenges and to include training and mentoring of students and postdoctoral researchers at the intersection of relevant disciplines.
