    Description

The Innovation Fund is one of the world’s largest funding programs dedicated to the demonstration and deployment of innovative net-zero and low-carbon technologies. Established under the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), the Fund is a key instrument of the European Green Deal Industrial Plan, aiming to drive decarbonization and enhance industrial competitiveness across all EEA Member States. It supports projects that bring breakthrough technologies to market—especially those with significant greenhouse gas reduction potential—by providing substantial financial backing through regular calls for proposals and competitive bidding (auctions).

    The Innovation Fund focuses on:

    • Large-scale and small-scale projects in energy-intensive industries, renewables, energy storage, net-zero mobility, hydrogen, and carbon capture, use, and storage (CCUS).
    • Accelerating market entry for technologies that can make a significant impact on European and global decarbonization efforts.
    • Supporting both demonstration and first-of-a-kind commercial projects.
