The NIGMS Institutional Biomedical Undergraduate Research Training (BURT) Program (T34) aims to strengthen the research training environment at eligible institutions and develop a diverse pool of well-trained students who complete their baccalaureate degrees in biomedical fields and successfully transition into research-focused higher degree programs (e.g., Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D.). The program encourages the development and implementation of effective, evidence-informed approaches to undergraduate biomedical research training and mentoring, ultimately supporting the future biomedical research workforce.
There are two application tracks:
Programs must integrate didactic, research, and career development elements to prepare participants for impactful careers in health-related research.
