This program funds integrated projects that advance organic agriculture in the United States by supporting research, extension, and higher education activities. The goal is to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of organic livestock and crop producers, as well as those adopting organic practices. Projects are expected to address stakeholder needs, enhance the adoption of organic methods, and contribute to the development of metrics, models, and technologies for organic systems. Applications must combine at least two of the three functions—research, education, and extension—although single-function projects with strong justification may be considered.
