The Integrative Health Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is designed to nurture clinicians as knowledgeable, compassionate practitioners of integrative, bio-psycho-social-spiritual medicine. Established in 2003, the program prepares fellows to provide culturally responsive care, center patient values, and engage in academic, experiential, and community learning. Fellows are trained in modalities such as lifestyle medicine, botanicals, supplements, mind-body medicine, and whole health approaches. The fellowship emphasizes self-care, clinician resilience, and fostering a sense of belonging and social impact within healthcare.
The fellowship offers two tracks:
Both tracks include hands-on microskills, seminars, specialty training, clinical practice, faculty supervision, and participation in grand rounds. Completion of the fellowship fulfills eligibility requirements for the American Board of Integrative Medicine® (ABOIM) board certification exam.
