The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) and the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) at NIH plan to support interdisciplinary research networks that advance biomedical research on resilience and health optimization. The initiative aims to foster innovative, rigorous, and reproducible research in resilience, defined as the capacity to resist, recover, adapt, or grow from challenges or stressors. Americans face a wide range of acute and chronic stressors—such as viral infections, burnout, financial hardship, and environmental toxins—that can worsen chronic diseases and negatively impact population health.
The funded research networks will:
Interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged, especially among researchers and clinicians specializing in cellular, physiological, psychological, social, and environmental domains of resilience.
