The International Development and Education Award (IDEA) is designed to support early-career oncologists from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) by providing them with mentorship from established ASCO members, attendance at the ASCO Annual Meeting, and a post-meeting visit to a mentor’s institution in the U.S. or Canada. The program aims to foster long-term professional relationships and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and skills to improve cancer care in recipients’ home countries. Recipients also receive three years of complimentary ASCO membership, including a subscription to the Journal of Clinical Oncology. The related IDEA in Palliative Care (IDEA-PC) program offers specialized training in palliative care.
