The International Development and Education Award (IDEA), administered by Conquer Cancer - the ASCO Foundation, is designed to support early-career oncologists and palliative care specialists from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The program provides recipients with mentorship from leading oncology professionals, attendance at the ASCO Annual Meeting, and a post-meeting institutional visit to a mentor’s institution in the U.S. or Canada. The IDEA-PC track focuses specifically on palliative care education, aiming to build local expertise in symptom management, communication, and end-of-life care.
Recipients are expected to disseminate the knowledge and skills gained through the program within their home institutions and communities, acting as agents of change to improve cancer care. Additional benefits include three years of complimentary ASCO membership and access to oncology resources.
