This award provides early-career US and international surgeons, particularly from low- and middle-income countries, the opportunity to participate in a surgical exchange program. Each cycle pairs a US SSAT member with an international SSAT member, enabling both to broaden their clinical and academic expertise. Awardees are recognized by the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), invited to present about their experience at Digestive Disease Week (DDW), and required to publish a written summary for the SSAT membership. The program aims to foster global leadership and professional development within SSAT chapters.
