The Intervention Research Grant (IRG) from the American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) provides seed funding for the initial phases of innovative occupational therapy research. The program is designed to help investigators generate pilot data and proof of concept, laying the groundwork for larger intervention studies that advance evidence-based occupational therapy practice. The IRG particularly encourages research that addresses racial, social, and health inequities, with a focus on including underrepresented populations and promoting social justice. Since 2013, the IRG has supported over 30 projects, many of which have led to subsequent federal funding, publications, and broad dissemination.
