Summary: Supports independent postdoctoral research in theoretical atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics at the Center for Astrophysics.
Key Information: Only J-1 visas issued for international fellows; applicants must have received a Ph.D. within one year of the start date.
The ITAMP Postdoctoral Fellowship is awarded annually to a promising early-career scientist to conduct independent research in any area of theoretical atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics at the Institute for Theoretical Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (ITAMP), part of the Harvard and Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. The program aims to address the shortage of theorists in AMO physics by attracting top talent and providing a strong pipeline for future university faculty. Fellows are expected to design and lead their own research programs, demonstrate originality through first-author publications, and contribute to the advancement of AMO physics in fields such as ultracold atomic and molecular physics, quantum gases, quantum optics, atomic astrophysics, and quantum information science.
