The J-LEAP (Japanese Language Education Assistant Program) is a two-year initiative by the Japan Foundation of Los Angeles in partnership with the Laurasian Institution. The program places young, native Japanese assistant teachers in K-12 schools across the United States to co-teach with experienced Japanese language educators ("Lead Teachers"). The goal is to strengthen Japanese language programs, provide authentic language and cultural experiences for students, and foster professional growth for both lead and assistant teachers. The program fully funds the assistant teacher's compensation and provides a grant for teaching materials, making it a cost-effective way for schools to expand and invigorate their Japanese language offerings.
