The Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award is a prestigious, one-time, need-based grant of up to $10,000 for highly talented classical instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers ages 8–18 who have not yet entered college. The award helps offset significant costs related to advanced classical music study—such as instrument purchases, private lessons, summer camp tuition, and travel for auditions. Recipients must also participate fully in From the Top’s Learning and Media Lab Fellowship, which includes an appearance on NPR’s "From the Top." Approximately 20 awards are given annually, based on musical commitment, financial need, educational engagement, and strength of character.
