The Jackie Kirk Outstanding Book Award, presented by the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES), recognizes an exceptional book published within the past two years that exemplifies Jackie Kirk’s dedication to gender and education and/or education in conflict, post-conflict, or fragile state contexts. The award also considers themes such as identity (particularly of girls and teachers), globalization, visual participatory research, and equitable collaboration between academics, practitioners, and educators across diverse settings. The honored book may be research-based, conceptual, theoretical, or policy-oriented, and should deepen the field’s understanding of its core topics while reflecting the spirit of Jackie Kirk’s legacy. The recipient is recognized at the CIES Annual Meeting and receives a $1,000 USD monetary award.
