Summary: Two-year fellowship for early-career family medicine scholars to participate in health policy work with the National Academies, including mentorship and board involvement.
This two-year fellowship, supported by the American Board of Family Medicine and administered by the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), provides early-career scholars in family medicine with the opportunity to engage directly in health policy and science activities of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Fellows remain at their home institutions while dedicating 10–20% of their time to NAM activities, including serving on a health policy board, participating in study committees or roundtables, contributing to reports, and receiving mentorship from a senior NAM member. The program is designed to foster leadership development in health quality and health services, and covers travel expenses for required NAM meetings and events.
