    Description

The Japanese Language Education Assistant Program (JLEAP) brings native Japanese Assistant Teachers (ATs) to U.S. K-12 schools for up to two academic years. The program aims to strengthen Japanese language programs by pairing an AT with a local Lead Teacher (LT) for team-teaching, providing students with authentic language and cultural experiences. JLEAP is jointly administered by the Japan Foundation and The Laurasian Institution and includes professional development, site visits, and ongoing support for both ATs and LTs. The program covers all major costs associated with the AT's placement and provides resources to participating schools, making it a cost-effective way to enhance Japanese language education.
