The Japanese Language Education Assistant Program (JLEAP) is designed to enhance Japanese language education in U.S. K-12 schools by placing native Japanese Language Assistant Teachers (ATs) at host institutions for up to two years. The program aims to strengthen Japanese language programs, provide cultural enrichment, and nurture the next generation of qualified Japanese language educators. ATs support classroom teaching, help develop curriculum, and engage students in language and cultural activities, thereby improving the quality and sustainability of Japanese language instruction.
