The Joan and Eugene Vanderpool Fellowship at the Athenian Agora is designed to support scholarly research on any aspect of the Athenian Agora, one of Greece’s most significant archaeological sites. The fellowship honors the legacy of Joan and Eugene Vanderpool and encourages academic engagement in fields such as history, archaeology, literature, epigraphy, architecture, art history, and biodiversity. Recipients are expected to contribute to the understanding of the Agora from antiquity to the present and to participate in the scholarly community of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA).
