This opportunity, offered by the FAA Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials (JAMS), funds research to ensure the safe and reliable application of composites and advanced materials in commercial aircraft. The program is a joint initiative between the Center of Excellence for Composite and Advanced Materials (CECAM) at Wichita State University and the Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials in Transport Aircraft Structures (AMTAS) at the University of Washington. The Center leads international efforts in research, development, and standardization for advanced material structures.
The program aims to foster a cost-sharing partnership among academia, industry, and government to address current and emerging challenges in advanced materials and structures. In addition to research, the Center plays a significant role in technology transfer, training, and continuing education for the aviation industry and regulators.
