Description
The Joyce and Aqueil Ahmad Endowment at the University of North Dakota (UND) provides annual funding to support research and creative activities by College of Arts & Sciences faculty that promote peace and nonviolence. The endowment honors Dr. Aqueil Ahmad, a founder of UND's Peace Studies program, and aims to deepen understanding of the behavioral, social, and cultural factors underlying violence while fostering public conversations about peace. Projects must address both the causes/consequences of violence and the promotion of peace, with a required outreach component to engage the broader community. The initiative encourages impactful scholarship and creative work that contributes to a culture of nonviolence.
