    Description

This federal grant program supports public and nonprofit private entities in delivering legal services to Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The initiative aims to address unmet legal needs that create barriers to housing stability, including issues related to housing, family law, income support, criminal defense, discharge upgrades, protective orders, access to health care, and employment law. A minimum of 10% of awarded funds must be used to serve women Veterans. The program is part of the VA's broader mission to prevent and end Veteran homelessness and is authorized under the Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D., Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020.
