Description
This program, led by the Institut français, aims to foster sustained dialogue and cultural exchange between civil societies on both shores of the Mediterranean, especially in Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, and France. The initiative focuses on three main areas: translation (with emphasis on French-Arabic flows and translator professionalization), publishing (supporting collaborative editorial projects, co-edition, and cross-Mediterranean exchanges), and mediation (enhancing mutual understanding of the book sector and cultural realities). A youth component strengthens youth publishing and dialogue among young people.
Activities include:
- Financial support for editorial and translation projects (notably co-editions and projects promoting mutual understanding)
- Professional meetings, fellowships, and mobility programs for publishers and authors
- Literary translation workshops and professionalization training
- Residencies for authors from the southern Mediterranean
- Thematic events and resources for youth literature and publishing
The program is now in its second phase (2024–2026), expanding to Lebanon and Egypt, with continued support for Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.
