The Long Island Sound Futures Fund (LISFF) is a competitive grant program managed by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other regional partners. Its mission is to restore and protect the health and living resources of Long Island Sound, an estuary of national significance. The program supports projects that advance clean water, thriving habitats, resilient communities, and public stewardship throughout the Sound’s multistate watershed.
Since 2005, LISFF has invested over $80 million in more than 680 projects, leveraging substantial additional matching funds and engaging millions in conservation. Supported activities include reducing nitrogen and other pollutants, restoring wetlands and fish passage, building nature-based infrastructure, removing marine debris, and advancing environmental education and community engagement.
