The Long Island Sound Stewardship Fund (LISSF) is a competitive grant program administered by the New York Community Trust and regional partners. Its mission is to restore and protect the health and living resources of Long Island Sound by supporting nonprofit organizations working within the Connecticut and New York portions of the watershed. The fund prioritizes projects that empower underrepresented communities, foster new collaborations, and pilot innovative tools or strategies, all closely aligned with the Long Island Sound Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP). Grants are awarded in three categories: Capacity Building, New Collaboration, and Piloting & Planning. The most competitive proposals will demonstrate sustainability, resilience, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with clear, measurable outcomes.
