The Long-term Public Humanities Fellowships at the Folger Shakespeare Library are designed to support full-time research and public humanities project development that engages deeply with the histories, concepts, art, and objects of the early modern world (ca. 1400–1800) and its legacies. Fellows are expected to make substantial use of the Folger’s collections, exhibitions, and programming, and to develop innovative public-facing projects—such as readings, talks, performances, digital initiatives, or community activations—that connect scholarly research to broader audiences. The program particularly encourages interdisciplinary and inclusive work that addresses inequities, marginalized subjects, and non-traditional approaches to archival research and public engagement.
