The MAA GSC Grant for Innovation in Community Building and Professionalization is awarded annually by the Medieval Academy of America to support creative projects that build community and enhance professional development among graduate student medievalists. Eligible projects include conferences, online journals, lecture or workshop series, group excursions to archives or sites, performances, and collaborative digital humanities initiatives. The grant encourages interdisciplinary and inventive approaches that promote research, publication, and teaching within medieval studies.
The grant is adjudicated by the Academy’s Committee on Professional Development in consultation with the Graduate Student Committee (GSC) Chair. Recipients are expected to submit a progress report and may be invited to present their outcomes at a special MAA GSC panel at major conferences or the Academy’s annual meeting.
