--- ## Description This program supports fundamental research that enables the development of new and/or improved manufacturing machines and equipment, as well as the optimization of their use. It focuses on equipment suitable for manufacturing mechanical and electromechanical devices, products, and systems at scales ranging from microns to meters. The program encourages proposals related to a wide variety of manufacturing operations, including subtractive and additive processes, forming, bonding/joining, and laser processing. Proposals that aim to innovate within the focus areas of Manufacturing USA institutes and leverage their facilities and infrastructure are encouraged. Both experimental and theoretical research are supported, but proposals must have a clearly articulated research (not developmental) objective and a coherent plan for achieving it. A dedicated "Broader Impacts" section is required in the project description. Proposals relating to nanomanufacturing or the manufacture of electronic devices (such as IC products) should be submitted to the appropriate NSF program (CMMI NanoManufacturing or ECCS Division). --- ## Due Dates - This opportunity is currently archived.
