Preference is given to projects focusing on women’s roles in militia, National Guard, or veterans organizations across any era, including the 21st century. Fellows benefit from access to Smithsonian staff, collections, research files, network access, and office space at NMAH. Research should be anchored in the Division’s collections but may extend to other Smithsonian and local Washington, DC repositories. Fellows are encouraged to present their research in a colloquium at NMAH.
