The Marine Conservation Action Fund (MCAF) is a small grants and fellowship initiative by the New England Aquarium, designed to support community-driven ocean conservation projects led by local leaders in low- and middle-income countries worldwide. Since its inception in 1999, MCAF has funded over 250 projects across more than 60 countries, fostering innovative, evidence-based, and locally-informed solutions that benefit both ocean health and local communities. In addition to project grants, MCAF offers fellowships for experienced conservationists and microgrants with mentorship for early-career professionals, aiming to build a global network of conservation leaders and catalyze lasting, systemic change.
