The Marine Education Fellowship offers recent college graduates a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marine science education, outreach, aquarium husbandry, and coastal extension. Hosted at the Marine Education Center and Aquarium on Skidaway Island, Georgia, fellows participate in teaching pre-K-12 school groups and summer camps, developing and delivering educational programs, performing aquarium husbandry, and organizing the annual Youth Ocean Conservation Summit. The program is designed as a bridge between undergraduate education and professional roles in environmental education or marine science, providing valuable professional development and networking opportunities.
Fellows work closely with experienced marine educators, researchers, and conservationists, and may also assist with outreach program expansion, integrating current research into educational initiatives, and participating in extension and shellfish research laboratory activities. The fellowship utilizes diverse facilities including teaching laboratories, a public aquarium, nature trails, observation platforms, and field vessels.
