The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Air Sensor Grant program offers eligible Massachusetts-based tribes, non-profit organizations, community-based organizations, and municipalities the opportunity to receive up to five PurpleAir Flex PM2.5 air sensors at no cost. The goal is to enable communities to monitor fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in outdoor air for at least one year, providing real-time data to support public health awareness, identify pollution hotspots, and foster data-driven mitigation efforts. The sensors transmit data to public online maps (PurpleAir Map and EPA’s AirNow Fire & Smoke Map), increasing transparency and community engagement around local air quality issues.
