This program provides funding to accredited public medical schools located in U.S. states with the most severe projected shortages of primary care physicians. The goal is to expand or strengthen education for medical students preparing to become physicians, particularly in states identified by the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis (NCHWA) as being in the top quartile for projected shortages through 2038. Eligible activities may include curriculum development, clinical training expansion, and initiatives to increase the number of graduates entering primary care.
