The Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) Program offers U.S. medical students the opportunity to participate in 8–12 weeks of mentored research, clinical, and didactic training in geriatrics or aging-related science. Supported by the National Institute on Aging and administered by the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR), the program aims to cultivate early interest in academic geriatrics and aging research, building a workforce to address the needs of an aging population. Participants engage in hands-on research (basic, translational, clinical, or health services) and structured clinical experiences, with the option to present their work at the American Geriatrics Society Annual Meeting.
