This two-year residential fellowship at the American Philosophical Society's Library & Museum in Philadelphia is designed for individuals at any career stage who wish to develop or advance their professional skills in collections care and best practices related to Native American and Indigenous collections in archives, libraries, and museums. The fellow will spend approximately 80% of their time collaborating with the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research (CNAIR), engaging in projects that promote access and use of one of the largest archival collections on Indigenous peoples and languages in the Americas. The remaining 20% of the fellow’s time is reserved for an independent project tailored to their interests and career goals.
Fellows will gain broad exposure to archival practice, including processing, digitization, metadata work, resource development, exhibition planning, and reference. The fellowship also provides opportunities to participate in the vibrant APS intellectual community through workshops, programs, and networking with other scholars.
