Description
This grant, administered by the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs (OCJP), provides funding to offset costs for Sheriff’s Offices in Tennessee that conduct mental health transports for non-custodial individuals, in accordance with Tenn. Code Ann. § 33-6-406, or that designate secondary transport agents under Tenn. Code Ann. § 33-6-901. The program aims to ensure humane, safe, and legally compliant transportation for individuals experiencing mental health crises, excluding inmate transport. Sheriff’s Offices may subcontract with municipal law enforcement agencies or qualified third-party providers, but the primary applicant must be the Sheriff’s Office.
