The Mentored Clinical Scientists Program in Drug Abuse & Addiction (NIDA K12) at the Medical University of South Carolina provides junior faculty and transitioning postdoctoral fellows with comprehensive mentored training in clinical research focused on substance use and addiction. The program combines didactic coursework, seminars, journal clubs, and hands-on research mentorship to foster research independence. Participants receive individualized support in research methodology, experimental design, statistics, research ethics, human subjects protection, and grantsmanship. Scholars are mentored by leading clinician-scientists and biomedical researchers in the field of substance use research.
