This grant supports mid-career public artists based in Minnesota in the creation of new, original, publicly accessible temporary or permanent artworks. The program is designed to empower artists to realize ambitious projects that may be difficult to fund through other means, encouraging innovation, skill expansion, and increased recognition in the field of public art. Projects must be artist-initiated and freely accessible to the public, and should benefit both the artist’s professional development and the broader community. The program values and seeks to reflect the racial, cultural, gender, artistic, physical ability, and geographic diversity of Minnesota and the 11 Native Nations that share its geography.
